Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 Network Client Administrator (NCADMIN.EXE)

Network Client Administrator can now create Network Installation Startup Disks for Windows
95, Windows NT Workstation, and Windows NT Server. These Network Installation Startup
Disks can be used to start the computer, connect to a server containing the installation
files, and start the installation process.

Windows 95
----------

To create Windows 95 Network Installation Startup disks from the computer running
Windows NT version 4.0:

1. Run Network Client Administrator.

2. Click Make Installation Startup Disk, and then click Continue.

3. Click Use Existing Shared Directory and then click OK.

4. Choose the correct floppy drive size and Network Adapter Card.

5. Choose Windows 95 in the Network Client box and click OK.

Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server
--------------------------------------------

To prepare the computer running Windows NT Server version 4.0 to make Network
Installation Startup Disks to install Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server:

1. If you have not already done so, create and share a directory containing the client
files provided on the Windows NT Server compact disc.

   a. Run Network Client Administrator.

   b. Click "Copy Client-based Network Administration Tools" and then click Continue.

   c. Click "Copy Files to a New Directory, and the Share," and then click OK.

2. Create a Winnt subdirectory of the clients directory. For example, if the clients
   directory is C:\Clients, create C:\Clients\winnt.

3. Create a Winnt.srv subdirectory of the clients directory. For example, if the clients
   directory is C:\Clients, create C:\Clients\winnt.srv.

4. Use Xcopy to copy the installation files from the Windows NT Workstation compact disc
to the shared clients directory. For example, if your Window NT Workstation compact
disc is in drive D and your shared clients directory is C:\Clients, run:

      xcopy /S /I d:\I386 c:\clients\winnt\netsetup

5. Use Xcopy to copy the installation files from the Windows NT Server compact disc to the
shared clients directory. For example, if your Window NT Server compact disc is in
drive D and your shared clients directory is C:\Clients, run:

      xcopy /S /I d:\I386 c:\clients\winnt.srv\netsetup

Windows for Workgroups
----------------------

If you created the original clients directory from the Windows NT Server version 3.5 or
3.51 compact disc, you can still create network installation startup disks for Windows for
Workgroups.

If you created the clients directory from the Windows NT Server version 4.0 compact disc:

1. Create a Wfw subdirectory and under the clients directory and a netsetup directory
under the wfw directory. For example, if the clients directory is C:\Clients,
create C:\Clients\wfw\netsetup.

2. Copy all the Windows for Workgroups files from the \Clients\wfw\netsetup directory
on the Windows NT Server version 3.5 or 3.51 compact disc for from the original Windows
for Workgroups installation disks to the \clients\wfw\netsetup directory you created
in step 1.

Note: Your Windows NT Server software license does not enable you to install additional
copies of Windows NT Server, nor does it allow you to install Windows 95 or Windows NT
Workstation clients free of charge. You must purchase a valid software license prior to
installing Windows 95, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT Workstation, or additional
copies of Windows NT Sever on a computer.
